What Health & Safety Rules Apply to My Business?
You are a business owner, there are many many things you must do to operate your business. The area where NSTSA helps you is with meeting the requirements that all businesses must have an occupational health and safety policy and safety program in place.
All businesses in Canada are regulated either, federally or provincially, depending on how you answer the following question.
Are you one of the following types of business?

banks
-
marine shipping, ferry and port services
-
air transportation, including airports, aerodromes and airlines
-
railway and road transportation that involves crossing provincial or international border
-
canals, pipelines, tunnels and bridges (crossing provincial borders)
-
telephone, telegraph and cable systems
-
radio and television broadcasting
-
grain elevators, feed and seed mills
-
uranium mining and processing
-
businesses dealing with the protection of fisheries as a natural resource
-
many First Nation activities
-
most federal Crown corporations
-
private businesses necessary to the operation of a federal act
If you are one of the above types of business you will be federally regulated. All other types of business would be provincially regulated.
Federally regulated business shall use the Canada Labour Code and Canada Occupational Health & Safety Regulations for their business. Info Here
