Any firms who registers with the Workers' Compensation Board and are assigned one of the following Standard Industrial Classification Codes (4561, 4562, 4563, 4564, 4569) will automatically pay a 3% levy over and above the premium assigned to that code and are considered Members of the Nova Scotia Trucking Safety Association.

Q: How Do I Set Up a Health & Safety Audit?

A: The first step in setting up a Safety Audit is to contact the Nova Scotia Trucking Safety Association Office at 902-493-3051 or toll free at 1-888-329-9660 or e-mail at safety.nstsa@ns.sympatico.ca. From there a representative will collect the necessary information from you and that information will then be forwarded to the auditor who will contact you personally to set up an audit date. The Nova Scotia Trucking Safety Association conducts Field or Site Audits, so it is important that you are available to meet with the auditor on the chosen audit date.

Q: Your Association offers both One and Two Day Occupational Health & Safety Training Workshops. Which workshop am I required to attend?

A: The One Day OH&S Workshops are for those firms who are Provincially Regulated and have less than 5 employees. The Two-Day Workshops are for those firms who are Federally Regulated or have 5 or more employees.
